I promise not to make too many posts acknowledging the passing of individuals. Though I will make an exception for Buddy Holly.
If you follow the short trajectory of his song catalog from Peggy Sue, you'll notice that one of his last songs, True Love Ways includes a full orchestra backing him. He was recording in New York City before his ill fated last tour of the Midwestern US, in the middle of winter, and the ultimate plane ride which killed him sixty-one years ago today.
He is a big "what if" he had lived a while longer. When people die seemingly before their time, it always causes people to make predictions as to what they might have accomplished. I fall in with the people who say he gave us plenty of good music and am grateful Everyday.
